IGS VIRTUAL

CROSS COUNTRY CHAMPIONSHIPS

We are delighted to announce the launch
of IGS’ first Virtual Cross Country Carnival.

Friday 15th May - Friday 12th June

The Virtual House Cross Country Carnival will be open from Week 4 to the end of Week 7 and aims to help keep you active, healthy and connected. Unfortunately we can’t have whole school Cross Country Carnival so lets do it virtually! So get involved, get running and support your house!

Details

The Virtual House Cross Country requires students to go for a walk, jog or run and record their time & distance. This information needs to be submitted to the IGS PDHPE Department via email & we will regularly update the House leaderboard. This is open to all students from Kindergarten to Year 12 as well as staff, alumni and parents.

Distance:

  • 1km for all 5, 6, 7, 8 year old students (born 2015, 2014, 2013, 2012)

  • 2km for all 9 and 10 year old students (born 2011, 2010)

  • 3km for 11, 12, 13, 14 year old students (born 2009, 2008, 2007, 2006)

  • 5km for 15 and 16 year  old students (born 2005, 2004)

  • 7km for 17 and 18 year old students (born 2003 or earlier)

  • Staff, parents and alumni:  walk/run whatever they feel comfortable with!

Overall Distance House Championships:

The Overall Distance House Championship is an IGS community challenge to see which House can complete the most number of kilometres over the coming weeks.

This is open to students, alumni, staff and parents. Parents, alumni & staff will just need to nominate which house they are in so their distance can be added to the tally.

The PDHPE department will track the total distance covered on a virtual race around Australia!

Virtual School Cross Country Carnival Championships:

Only open go IGS K-12 students.

Students can submit as many times as they like over the next few weeks. Their single fastest time over their specified distance will be taken and contribute to the House Cross Country totals. (e.g students can submit seven 3km run times and the fastest will be recorded).  Points will be allocated in line with the school cross country carnival and all students who submit a time will get at least one point for their House.

As long as the walk or run meets the distance criteria for your age, submissions can count for both challenges!
